Gateway Lock & Security Cameras Providing Surveillance Systems Since 1960!

Times change, sometimes for the better, but, sadly, often for the worse. In days gone by, it was usually enough to have a lock and deadbolt on entry doors to keep intruders out and protect assets inside.

Today, it’s a very different story. Burglars, vandals, and other criminals have lots of tools and means to get access to any business. They can do a lot of harm, not only in monetary losses but in gaining confidential and classified information.

Companies need to make sure they have the right security and surveillance systems for their business.

Types of Commercial Security Systems

Some of the most common types of commercial security methods include:

  • Surveillance systems
  • Access control
  • Door locks

A company can opt for one or all of these types of systems, depending on their needs.

Surveillance Systems

A surveillance system is defined as “the monitoring of behavior, activities, or information for the purpose of influencing, managing or directing”. The components of a surveillance system include cameras, monitors and recording devices. The purpose of these surveillance systems is to capture activity that occurs in and around the premises. The camera captures the image, they can be remotely monitored, and recording the activity is crucial to identifying and prosecuting the individuals.

There are many brands, styles, and types of systems available. Some styles of cameras available include:

box camera                   bullet camera                   Dome camera                   PTZ camera                 IP Camera

Box Camera                       Bullet Camera                     Dome Camera                 Pan Tilt Zoom Camera               IP Camera

Access Control

Controlling who has access to a building or certain areas of the building is also important to a business’s security. There were times when employers issued keys to employees. If there is only a handful of employees needing access to the building, that may still be workable.

But if there are hundreds of employees, it can be a huge challenge to keep track of physical keys and possible duplication. A better alternative is an automated access control system. Only authorized individuals have control over issuing and monitoring access cards. They maintain a computerized log of all individuals who are issued these access cards. They can also monitor the access and activities of contractors or visitors. Preventing entry from unauthorized individuals can protect employees and assets alike.

Door Locks

Secure door locking and unlocking systems are in place to secure access to only authorized individuals. Access keys or cards can be issued to only those authorized to open a door to restricted areas.

There are electronic door locks where a keypad is used to enter a code to open the door. Or it can also be opened via a key fob, just like those used for unlocking a car.

An electric strike is a metal plate installed on a door frame that can be unlocked via remote electrical control. These devices can be programmed to lock or unlock doors at certain times of the day or based on the user’s level of access.
